Feng Shui garden - create a place to feel good

If you are fortunate enough to have a garden, it is helpful to design not only your house but also your garden according to the ancient Feng Shui teachings. Create a place where you can recharge and enjoy.

For me as a Feng Shui consultant, garden design is a very important part of my Feng Shui advice. A Feng Shui garden can help you regain more life energy.

Which garden is right for me?

When designing the garden, I try to take the needs and wishes of the family members into account. Only when the majority of the family uses the garden and feels comfortable is it a place in which chi can develop positively.

Do you prefer a wide, open garden or a place with sheltered areas?

Do you use the garden for yourself or do you often have visitors?

do you have children who would like to use the garden with friends?

would you like to pursue a hobby?

Should your garden be colorful and varied or rather simple?

which plants are important to you?

Do you prefer certain accessories or art objects?

Should a kitchen garden be integrated?

Do you want water energy (water feature, bird bath, spring stone)

In addition to the wishes of the residents, the local conditions also play an important role in garden design. What is the condition of the property? Is it at ground level, on a slope or in a hollow? Does the garden have a lot of sunlight or is it more of a shady garden due to buildings or tall old trees?

Several thousand years ago, the teaching of Feng Shui emerged from observations of nature, which takes exactly this into account in planning and implementation.

Everything in our universe is connected. We humans are part of this system. If we live in harmony with nature, we live in harmony, are healthy and feel good. Therefore, my approach as a Feng Shui consultant is to create harmony between people, house, garden and environment. A Feng Shui garden can help you regain more life energy.

I use the 5 elements of teaching, the cardinal directions and the Bagua as my basis.

The 9 areas of life / Bagua

I divide the garden into 8 cardinal directions or the so-called areas of life. Each of these areas is assigned certain life themes. He's almost like a mirror. This gives me information about the strengths, but also about areas of life that still need to be developed and possible issues that affect the residents. The zones/areas of life are called:

Career, partnership, family, wealth, center (Tai Chi), helpful friends, children, knowledge and fame.

Here is an example for the direction north:

In this area the path of life, the journey of life is described. So if you are currently dealing with the question of your future path in life, your career, profession, calling (where am I now, where would I like to go), then you are connected to this zone. This then shows up in the form of:

Stagnation in life

aimlessness

Self-doubt and general dissatisfaction

Possibly health problems with kidneys or bladder?

I am dissatisfied with my personal life

I am dissatisfied with my professional career

Now the Feng Shui consultation involves looking at this area in your garden and designing it accordingly according to Feng Shui principles.

Five elements

Teaching according to the principles plays an important role in garden design Five elements . This teaching also emerged from observations of nature. It allows you to recognize many connections in order to find the right solution to problems. Every plant, every landscape form, every material, every shape, every organ and every disease is assigned to a specific element.

The 5 elements are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. They influence and change each other. They are also called the “five phases of change”.

Meaning of the 5 elements in the Feng Shui garden

If possible, all elements should be present in a Feng Shui garden. This appears harmonious and balanced.

Features of a Feng Shui Garden:

Healthy, strong plants

energy-generating accessories

harmonious garden design

Allow energy/chi to flow in gentle swings. Beds, paths, water borders should

be rounded if possible.

Make the planting varied

Design example for the north / Bagua zone life path

Here you can see a design example for a garden section in the north.

This area is in a shady location. The bed is under trees. When selecting plants, care was taken to ensure that they were suitable for shady areas and that they could survive for long periods without rainwater.

According to Feng Shui, the element of water is assigned to the north.

Flower colors were mainly chosen based on the water element (blue) and metal element (white). Alternatively, attention was paid to the shape of the leaf (wavy or slightly rounded). A metal spiral supports the area positively.

Five elements in Feng Shui in the garden

Feng Shui Garten

Wood element

This element is attributed to spring. It represents the energy striving upwards, a vertical shape. Climbing, columnar, tall plants. Steals, piles, towers, pillars and poles are corresponding forms. The colors for the element wood are green, light blue and violet. The Bagua zones are wealth or family, the cardinal points east and southeast.

The terrace and trellis are made of wood. Plants have an upward growth habit.

Fire element

stands for summer. The forms are pointed, outward directed energies. Everything triangular and pointed such as spines, thorns, pointed leaves belong to the fire element. This area can be positively supported with a barbecue or fire pit, torches, candles, garden lights and modern garden art.

The colors are red, wine red and pink. The assigned cardinal direction is south, the Bagua zone is glory.

The bright and luminous blossom of this sunflower reflects the fire element very well. The petals are tapered. The flower has an inspiring effect on us.

Earth element

Earth shapes are flat and horizontal. This area is supported by the colors yellow, orange, beige, oker, sand and brown. Clay/ceramic pots and floor coverings made of gravel or stone can be added here as accessories. The assigned Bagua zones are partnership, knowledge and the center/middle, the cardinal directions are southwest, northeast and center.

The terrace and the wall are made of granite stones, gravel and field stones. The shape of the stone wall, the tuja plantation and the partition walls are vertical. Flower pots made of clay or ceramic could now be added here to provide support.

Metal element

This energy lies in the West and Northwest. The Bagua Zones are Children and Helpful Friends. It corresponds to autumn. Metal shapes are round, semi-circular or spherical. Metal objects such as a round metal table, wind chimes, metal spirals or archways are ideal here. Metal colors are white, gray, silver or gold.

Water element

The element water symbolizes winter. Everything that has to do with water is good in this area. Water feature, pond, stream, air stone, bird bath, but also wavy and irregular growth forms. The colors are black and dark blue. The cardinal direction is the north, the bagua zone is the career.

Sparkling, living water has an invigorating function. Water has a positive effect on us. It activates the garden.

Further design tips according to Feng Shui

Remove they have obstacles such as: Clutter or clutter.

Don't position your trash can right at the entrance, no matter how convenient it is. The garbage can contains waste and thus sends out negative energies. Every time you leave the house or come home you are exposed to these energies. On warm days there are also unpleasant smells. If no other position can be found on your property, then the garbage can should at least disappear behind a privacy screen such as a trellis that is covered in greenery.

Curved shapes

It is important to consider slightly curved design elements in Feng Shui. Beds, paths and bodies of water should be laid out in gently curved shapes. The path to the front door should also be slightly curved, if possible.

On long driveways or sidewalks, the chi can quickly accelerate, becoming unfavorable sat chi. Sat-Chi arises where it is too fast or stagnant. Sat-Chi slows us down and inhibits us; we feel tired, weak and powerless. Therefore, they should slow the flow of energy on long driveways or sidewalks using “chi brakes.” Plant growing ground cover plants, set up potted plants, create curved beds and paths.

Pay attention to house corners or sharp edges, these also produce sat-chi. Climbing plants can help here.

Create retreats in the garden. Seating designed to make you feel unobserved and protected from prying eyes and wind.

Chi quality

Another focus of my Feng Shui advice is determining the energy supply of the property or house. Where does the energy come from on the property? Is the property even supplied with energy? What quality is the energy that supplies your property? Here I used the Chinese compass, the Lopan. Through certain measurements I receive information about the energy state and can therefore develop recommendations that increase the energy level in order to regain more life energy, well-being and strength.
