Garden redesign project according to Feng Shui principles

In this project, the residents wanted a garden redesign according to Feng Shui principles.

This is a rental property. This meant that there were certain limits to the transformation. In principle, however, the landlord agreed to the project and the “garden planning/garden redesign” project could be tackled.

The wish or goal of the Feng Shui consultation was to feel more comfortable in the garden again and to use and enjoy the garden with more joy.

Retreat points

Retreat points should be created.

When planning the garden, it was also important to the residents that native plants were taken into account when selecting plants in order to create useful space for insects, bees, bumblebees and butterflies.

First, the cardinal directions were drawn on the floor plan. I need this for further elaboration.

I don't work with the Bagua technique that many people know, but with the more precise method of the 8 cardinal directions.

Feng Shui Gartenplanung

The main focus of this consultation was the cardinal directions: south (recognition/fame, trigram Kin), southeast (wealth/finances, trigram Doey), east (family/health, trigram Lei) and northeast (knowledge/knowledge, trigram Dzan).

south

In the South, “external reputation”, self-confidence and the potential achieved are addressed. How are you perceived, valued and respected by other people?

The fire element is attributed to this area. Red/pink colors, unusual garden art and sun symbols can be introduced here. This is an ideal place for a barbecue or fire pit. Light from torches, fairy lights or lamps provides additional support. Plants that could be planted include sunflowers, golden stonecrops, daisies, ilex, ferns, roses or lilacs.

In this area, a seating area with a fireplace was created, beds were redesigned, planted and decorated with garden accessories. A rock garden with herbs has been created.

southeast

The southeast represents growth, prosperity, happiness and belongs to the wood element. All emerging forms such as steals, poles, pillars, piles are beneficial in this area.

This is a good place for a water source such as a fountain, spring stone, water feature or bird bath. Rank plants such as espaliered fruit, ivy or wild vine are just right here.

The East also belongs to the element of wood and the color green. Everything that has already been performed in the southeast can also be brought in here. Plants such as bamboo and magnolia enrich the zone.

Here we built wooden trellises ourselves and planted them with espaliered fruit in order to interrupt the dominance of the tuja hedge. Beds were designed to be slightly curved and the divided garden areas were connected with lawn so that they now embody a unity.

Northeast

The northeast belongs to the element earth, the colors yellow/brown/sand/beige/orange/vanillie/terracotta. Objects/vessels made of clay, ceramic, stone, gravel or sand provide support here.

Here the raised bed and rotary clothes dryer were removed. A wooden border was made to provide privacy for the garbage cans.

All the beds were laid out in a slightly curved shape, and existing plants were largely replanted and supplemented with new plants. Each area of the garden is connected to each other and thus forms a harmonious unit. The terrace was also redesigned with existing accessories. A water feature is being planned; for now, a bird bath will be used to support the water energy.

Positive changes

After a short time, the first positive changes could be noticed. The family is now sitting in the garden more often again and spending lovely, relaxing hours in the newly created greenery.

The greatest change was noticed in the south. This area was not used at all before the redesign and lay fallow. It has now become a popular place to stay and a popular meeting place for chatting and grilling. Even a family member got in touch again after many years of withdrawal.

Feedback

For several years we were undecided about a garden redesign. The garden seemed inharmonious, cramped and, not least, oppressive due to the neighbor's high hedge. The garden is constantly visible from the living room and kitchen, which we use a lot. The imbalance of the garden also affected our everyday life indoors.

After making initial contact, we had a very harmonious initial conversation during which we were able to present our ideas and wishes in detail. Our concerns were that, as tenants, we understandably wanted to set ourselves a financial framework that the project was not even an option for us. But even without a complete restructuring and with our own efforts, we were able to implement our wishes or have them implemented. For Thomas Werner, due to the specifications we gave him as a tenant, this project was perhaps even more challenging than a complete redesign or redesign for property owners.

Even during and after the redesign, Thomas Werner was available to answer our questions (by phone, email or Skype) and we felt we were well advised.

We now enjoy using the garden a lot and will certainly enjoy it in every season.

Many many thanks!

H family
